DAY 38: Osaka by Night

I get up late and decide to shower. Bree is at work and this can only mean one thing...I am going to have to have my day in Osaka without my chest strap. I head out for the zoo again....but I am in pain. I take a pill....nothing. Failed attempt, I need to go back.

Okonomiyaki!
Bree finally returns and we head out to get a bite to eat. We try an okonomiyaki joint. This savoury mess off a pancake/noodles/sauce/vegetables/meat and more is one of the local specialties. Please forgive my lack of apostrophes in this post...I am using a keyboard I have no clue how to work. Anyways, the meal is amazing as well as amazingly filling. I am stuffed and therefore quite happy!

Bar-Hopping
Me and Bree hit up a local Irish pub. She knows all the locals there. We have ourselves a blast and eventually hit up another bar further down town. She also knows quite a few people there too and the people we do not know eventually also become our friends. It is all a blur to me...but I remember the German businessman and his partner from Hong Kong, Toby. There was the Rastafarian Felipe and his Mexican friend Jesus. The older Japanese lady looking for some action who, poor thing, got no attention from the guys. And then there was one Japanese guy my age....he struck me the most because he knew my story and told me about Cape Sata. I love to hear about Sata from random strangers....it makes it all so much more juicy and better to look forward to. He tells me, like Yui did back in Kyoto, that Sata is a wild place. The edge of civilisation...the end of Japan. He warns me of the inhabitants of this land. Monkeys...... They are everywhere, he says. I reassure him that I have seen monkeys before, but he tells me that these monkeys are feisty, greedy...and smart. He says to me that they will try to scare you, gang up on you and even steal your food and your money! Money? He  tells me, the damn critters know how to put in change found on the ground...and insert it into the vending machines nearby! Amazing! I think my image of Sata just got a little better. I look forward to meeting these locals. I know I will have no problem. I have a plan already for when that day comes. Yui also told me she was scared in Cape Sata, and that the monkeys followed her...in the trees above, and even on the streets. I smile. Monkeys......just perfect. Like the cherry on my cake. I cannot wait.

Exhausted
After hours of partying with the friendly locals, Bree has been long gone at this point, I decide to head back home. I say my goodbyes, and stumble out of the joint. The Osakan streets are empty at this point. I see bums, and stray cats. In my drunkenness I feel so bad for two kittens who had been left there with their collars and leashes still on that I try to find a McDonalds to feed the poor beasts. I find one, but they are gone. Perhaps their owner had a change of heart. No big deal, I find myself with a bag of extra burgers, so I am happy either way. I head back and finally find my way to her house. I drink half a bottle of apple juice and pass out. Crazy night. Tomorrow.......round two.
