DAY 40: Osaka, You Wear Me Out!

Wake up late again. No sites. Gave up on that a while ago. Tired. No more partying, please. Yesterday's shenanigans are today's.........wait, this sounds familiar. Ah, that's right. That was the night before. I feel hungover. It's been a while I've felt this way. Sigh.... no more. Just going to relax tonight.

Going Out
Relax? Nah! I go find Bree at the bar with the Kangaroo name. I keep forgetting the real name. It's my favorite spot in town. I am thoroughly exhausted so you'll have to let your imagination run a bit with this one because I am not writing much today with three days worth of madness in my head. I stick to beer and take it easy with the devil's drank.

Friends Fricking Galore
Ok, when I said that I made a lot of friends on this trip, I wasn't lying. But it might be hard for one to believe the following. Every single person in the Kangaroo bar made friends with me tonight. The bartenders, awesome guys, always smiling, the Russian guys Sasha who thought he knew me better than I knew myself, the two American businessmen who have been to Osaka 25 times, the Japanese guy who was a nurse who ascertained the status of my injury while completely inebriated, the two Moroccans who both tried to start a fight with people, including myself but then eventually became friends with me....ah yes, the two Japanese guys who I think might have been Yakuza (Japanese Mafia) who I shared some funny youtube videos with as I sat with them, and even Kentaro, the guy who told me about the Saru (monkeys) of Cape Sata two nights earlier! Haha! Great time.

Not really drunk, but still for some reason stumbling out of the bar, perhaps because of sheer tiredness, I head back to Bree's place.

Some Good Tunes to End the Last Night Here
I find myself again traversing the lonely alley's of Osaka. I sort of know where I am and decide to listen to some music. I pump up the volume and let my favorite artist's music fill the empty streets. Jovanotti's Fango song is perfectly appropriate for the moment. A relaxing song, it says, "I am not alone when I am alone". I've heard this song millions of times, but this time it makes a little bit more sense to me. I never feel alone when I am alone anymore. The city and the entirety of it all always keeps me company. No need to feel alone in a place that is not that bad after all. I take my sweet time back, walking each step on tempo. Regardless, I beat the sun back home and pass out before I see any light.

I think Osaka is my favorite city in Japan. Tokyo or Osaka. Not sure. They are both fantastic places. My time here is over, and although I have basically seen no tourist destination or done any sightseeing here....I feel like I saw Osaka for what it really is.

Goodnight Osaka. Tomorrow I leave, and will have to make a tough decision about how to end this adventure.......
