I am on the Shinkansen. The bullet train blasts through Japan, and all its little towns and cities. Everything passes by, in a blur. The sun sets and I put my headphones on. Only darkness outside now. Listening to sad songs. My arms crossed, my eyes fixed forward. Last time I heard these...man.....it has been a while. It's one of those moments when, you get it. Your life is passing you by. I am not about to graduate any longer, my Tigre is not sick anymore, I am not struggling to stay with a girl from my past dreams either. Time passed. I am already on the next chapter. On the next page.
My life is on a Shinkansen ride, blasting through the stations of this place. I am not sure how much time I have left. I may get off at the next station, or perhaps, it will be the last one on the line. But, it's never enough time. And this train....it's always too damn fast. Yesterday's full moon begins its endless cycle, and is disappearing tonight, once again. I don't see it, but I know it's out there. The train shakes once each time another one passes by, 1, 2, 3 seconds only, and then shakes again as the two trains part ways, 600kms per hour, in opposite directions, away from each other.
I made a decision today. Well.... more of a gamble. I know....I said no trains, no walking, no cars, no hotels....I also never wanted to end up in the hospital, change my flight back, or find myself here. I never liked walking. It was fine for a couple of days, but it wasn't for me. What really bothered me though, was the hitchhiking. Not because it was hard or could have been dangerous. No. I hated hitchhiking because I felt like I was cheating. Cheating myself.
I am on the Shinkansen now, blasting through Japan. But my Shinkansen is not going to Cape Sata. No. I have not given up. My train is going back. Back to the place where it all happened. Back, to get something that belongs to me, give my thanks, one more time, and finish what I came here to do.
